Past Events

As a small but vibrant chapter of NATS, we are dedicated to enriching our vocal community by offering a variety of engaging events each year. Our goal is to provide at least one singing festival, two workshops or masterclasses, and numerous performance opportunities for both teachers and students. Each event reflects our commitment to fostering growth, artistry, and connection among our members. Below, you’ll find a selection of our past events, showcasing the range of experiences we’ve created to support vocal excellence and community spirit.

Annual Teacher/Student Pacific Union College Concert

Redwood Empire NATS Annual Concert at Pacific Union College
Date: Sunday, October 13th, 2024
Time: 3:00 pm
Location: Pacific Union College, One Angwin Ave, Angwin, CA 94508
The Redwood Empire Chapter of NATS is excited to invite you to our annual concert, held this year at the newly remodeled theater at Pacific Union College (PUC) in Angwin. This event will feature performances by our NATS teachers, their students, and past winners of our annual scholarship festival.
We are delighted to be hosted by PUC, the only four-year college in Napa County, nestled in a beautiful campus setting. The drive to the college is picturesque, making this musical afternoon an even more enjoyable experience.
After the concert, the PUC student chapter of NATS will host a reception with light refreshments. This event is free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $20-$40, which can be made in cash at the event or online at our website.
Come and celebrate the talent and hard work of our music community!

Feldenkrais Method® Workshop

Sunday, September 29th, 2024
Noon-4 PM

Location: Santa Rosa Junior College, Forsyth Hall, Rm 105. 1501 Mendocino Avenue.
Open to all NATS teachers and students, and community members

No cost, suggested online donation $15-$20

Wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat, beach towel, or blanket for being down on the floor.
Bring a piece of text you are working on within a song or monologue

Karen will guide us through a Feldenkrais Method® session, which can enhance any physical activity you enjoy—whether it’s walking, hiking, singing, dancing, swimming, Pilates, or yoga. These classes focus on understanding your patterns of movement and learning how to reduce effort, improve balance, and feel more comfortable and flexible. Most of the session will take place lying down on a firm surface, and Karen will guide us through movement patterns that emphasize the relationships between bones and joints, helping us become more aware of how we use our skeleton.

Karen is preparing a mini-lecture on different modalities, including how the Fitzmaurice method draws from several disciplines, Feldenkrais being one of them. Afterward, we’ll move into group floor work. For those interested, there will be an opportunity to work one-on-one with Karen on a text or song. Please bring your song with both sheet music and just the text. We’ll have sign-up sheets for one-on-one work when you arrive.
