Feldenkrais Method Workshop for Singers With Karen Clark
April 1, 2023 | 10am-12pm
Green Music Center, Room 1028
Green Music Center, Room 1028
Imagine how you would like to feel as you sing. What comes to mind?
What are the sensations, thoughts and feelings you would like to experience as you sing?
In this workshop Karen introduces a process based on the Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education. Somatic means learning through the body which singers engage all of the time. In this workshop we will explore ways to clarify our experience and differentiate what we think we do with the how. Our time together will include an Awareness Through Movement® lesson that focuses on breathing and posture.
Come! Bring your questions and curiosity— and a pen and notebook— to find out how you can improve your experience of singing. Dress comfortably, loose-fitting — yoga / athletic wear encouraged! Bring a mat and a towel or blanket if you have one; some will be provided.
Karen Clark, Singer and Feldenkrais Instructor, received certification by the Feldenkrais Guild of North America (FGNA) in 1999. Since then, Karen has designed and led classes and workshops for hundreds of clients. Karen's work focuses on healthy use of the speaking and singing voice, injury prevention and recovery, and how learning to sense ourselves more clearly can improve our quality of life. Karen holds degrees (Master and Bachelors of Music) from the Indiana University School of Music, Bloomington and has been teaching for forty years.
